Vitamins -- Category List

The human body produces an insufficient amount of vitamins and the latter must regularly be taken up in food. To prevent a lack in vitamins, food is nowadays enriched with vitamins. This is achieved via the mixing or spraying of vitamins onto food. It is however difficult to achieve a homogenous distribution. Furthermore the amount of vitamins contained in the food must be labelled throughout the products entire shelf-life. According to the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) the overdosage should not be more than 50% of the total labelled content. It is therefore essential for manufacturers as well as surveillance authorities to control the vitamin content of products.
